Josephine Lena Epifane
9/22/1927 – 5/28/2024
Josephine Lena Epifane of East Windsor, New Jersey, formerly of Long Island, returned home to heaven on May 28, 2024. Lena was born in Roosevelt, New York on September 22, 1927 to Nazzarina and Dominick, who emigrated from Italy. She was the youngest of four siblings and the first one to be born in the United States.
Lena was devoted to her family, and married to Andrew for 28 years, who passed in 1977. Lena was a loving mother to Andrew (Deborah), Joseph (Carolyn), Anthony (Roseanne), and Rosean (Clifford).
Lena was adored by her 11 grandchildren and was a doting great-grandmother to 10 children ranging in age from one week to 10 years old.
Lena will be remembered for her vivaciousness, exuberance, unbounded strength, kindness, commitment to her faith, and unwavering love for her family. She was an inspiration to us all.
Visitation will be held at Wantagh Abbey Funeral Home on Sunday, June 2, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. (3374 Park Avenue in Wantagh, NY); and a Funeral Mass will take place at St. Francis de Chantel Roman Catholic Church on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. (1309 Wantagh Ave in Wantagh, NY). Interment will follow at Holy Rood Cemetery (111 Old Country Road in Westbury, NY).
