OBITUARY
Donald J. O’Callaghan
12/24/1942 – 7/31/2023
It is with a heavy heart that the family of Donald J. O’Callaghan from Hicksville, NY announce his passing on July 31, 2023 at 80 years old at his home. He is survived by his children Scott (Jill) O’Callaghan, Kelly (Frank) Padavan, Erin (Rob) O’Callaghan, his Grandchildren, Mary Grace, Katie Elizabeth, Frank Jr., his sister Patricia Filasky, brother Kevin (Sue) O’Callaghan, his girlfriend Candy McCarthy, his aunt Barbara Lambert, nephews, nieces, cousins and many more who loved him.
He worked for Cornell Cooperative Extension as a 4-H Agent, was director/manager of the Dorothy P. Flint 4-H camp in Riverhead and many various other roles from 1961-2011. Dad loved the outdoors. He was a proud Boy Scout, a Master Gardener, a man of faith and family. Dad believed in “Making the Best Better”, and to “Learn By Doing”.
He will be reposed at Wantagh Abbey Funeral Home on Thursday August 3, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Donald J. O’Callaghan memorial fund, toward a project at the DPF 4-H camp. Donations can be sent to CCE Nassau, Parking Field 8, Eisenhower Park Special Activities Center, East Meadow, NY 11554. Please include Donald J. O’Callaghan Memorial Fund in the memo.
