Victoria (Mazzeo) DeGioia, 100, of Southington, CT and formerly of Wantagh, Long Island, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Southington Care Center. She was the beloved wife of the late John DeGioia Sr. for 35 years before his passing in 1980.
Victoria was born on July 29, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Antonio and Maria (Sottile) Mazzeo. She grew up in Long Island and worked as a ticket taker at Jones Beach in her early years. Victoria was an active volunteer in the Ladies Auxiliary of the North Bellmore Fire Department, Company #2 for many years.
Victoria is survived by two children; son, John DeGioia Jr. and wife Gail of Plantsville and daughter, Diane Muscarello of Conyers, GA, daughter-in-law, Gail DeGioia of Vero Beach, FL, 6 grandchildren; Alissa Muscarello, Matthew Muscarello, Justin DeGioia, Derek DeGioia (Christina), Brett DeGioia (Lynne) and Jesse DeGioia (Kassey) and 5 great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Ava, Caroline, Eliana and Amelia. She is also survived by two sisters, Laura Sessa and husband Joe of Boca Raton, FL and Linda Southard and husband Robert of Setauket, NY and many loved nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband John, she was predeceased by her son, Louis DeGioia.
