Ruth passed away April 1, 2023 following a stay in rehab after a heart attack in November. She was 94. Ruth’s husband, Bill, passed away in 2011. She is survived by seven of her eight children, Brian, Bruce, Kathleen, Kevin, Christopher, Mary and Bill. Her son Michael passed away in 2020. She is also survived by 16 Grandchildren: Mark, Paul, Clare, Genevieve, Elizabeth, Sarah, Natalie, Daniel, Erick, Andrew, Justin, Kristin, Nicole, Theresa, Heather and Cailin. One Grandson, Cory, died in 2016. Ruth died with 10 Greatgrandchildren: Ella, Julia, Ryan, Nicholas, Molly, William, Maeve, Cassidy, Rebecca and Caleb.
Ruth lived most of her life in Wantagh, went to grade school at St Barnabas in Bellmore, high school at Bishop McDonald in Brooklyn and went on to nursing school at Mary Immaculate in Queens. She worked a short time as a Registered Nurse at Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre; and then spent the remainder of her life dedicated to her family at home. She was a woman of great faith and was seen daily at St Frances de Chantal parish most of her life. Ruth and Bill and their children spent most of their vacations enjoying camping. She kept up with friendships throughout her life.

Victoria (Mazzeo) DeGioia, 100, of Southington, CT and formerly of Wantagh, Long Island, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 23, 2024 at Southington Care Center. She was the beloved wife of the late John DeGioia Sr. for 35 years before his passing in 1980.
Victoria was born on July 29, 1923 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Antonio and Maria (Sottile) Mazzeo. She grew up in Brooklyn and moved to Long Island where she worked as a ticket taker at Jones Beach Theatre in her early years. Victoria was an active volunteer in the Ladies Auxiliary of the North Bellmore Fire Department, Company #2 for many years.
Victoria is survived by two children; son, John DeGioia Jr. and wife Gail of Plantsville and daughter, Diane Muscarello of Conyers, GA, daughter-in-law, Gail DeGioia of Vero Beach, FL, 6 grandchildren; Alissa Muscarello, Matthew Muscarello, Justin DeGioia, Derek DeGioia (Christina), Brett DeGioia (Lynne) and Jesse DeGioia (Kassey) and 5 great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Ava, Caroline, Eliana and Amelia. She is also survived by two sisters, Laura Sessa and husband Joe of Boca Raton, FL and Linda Southard and husband Robert of Setauket, NY and many loved nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband John, she was predeceased by her son, Louis DeGioia.
